COVID-19

Dear Forge International and Sage International Communities:

With the long term best interest of our students, staff, and families in mind, early this evening our Board determined that our campuses are closed effective tomorrow, Monday, March 16th through March 27th. Our staff will be available on campus Monday for parents to pick up student medications, personal belongings, etc. (No appointment needed).  We will follow this up with much more information starting tomorrow but wanted to get this information out to families quickly.

A couple quick - important - notes prior to tomorrow’s details:

This Week (Week of the 16th): Our staff will be working all week to prepare for a longer-term campus closure (virtual education), deep cleaning our facilities, and communicating with all of you. Over the week, we will be finalizing and rolling out virtual/on-line solutions to continue delivering education to our students. The timeline and solutions will vary at different grade levels. In other words, while a campus closure means our campuses are physically closed, students may not necessarily be ‘off’ all week - we want to return to providing instruction asap. Again, details to come.

Next Week (Week of the 23rd): No students. No staff. No online learning. In lieu of our scheduled April Break, this week will be a break week for staff and students. The week of April 13th will no longer be a week off for staff and students.  In other words, “spring break” is being moved up to the week of March 23. We apologize for any inconvenience, but we feel this is prudent so we can adequately prepare to finish the school year virtually, if necessary.

Beyond Next Week: A future decision will be made as to whether we continue with our campus closures and virtual/online learning approach, or whether we reopen the physical campuses. No decisions have been made, but planning for prolonged closure appears prudent.

School Nutrition:
Forge nutrition staff and administration will be meeting first thing on Monday to discuss the capacity of providing meals to students that qualify for free/reduced meals. More information will be made available as decisions are made.

Again, much more info to come. We know there are a lot of questions; we will do our best to answer all questions and share information as quickly and clearly as we can, beginning tomorrow.

Finally, we apologize to those who were not able to participate virtually at today’s emergency Board meeting and ask for your understanding and grace in recognizing that this was our first effort at a virtual meeting allowing for on-line community participation.  Transparency and community participation was the goal; we did relatively well and will work to do better moving forward

Stay safe. Stay healthy. Thank you for being a valued member of our community

Sincerely,

Board of Directors and School Leadership Teams
